MODULE 6 : CASE STUDY – FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT FOR
                   SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
  

The highlight of this workshop will be a case study that allows for the
participants to use and apply their newly-acquired financial management knowledge
on helping organization improves its financial position based on key financial
data which they will be given. 

Putting them in a position as a Financial Director, this case study is designed
to inculcate in the participants the importance of financial management
knowledge, without which will weaken the financial position of the organization.

Essentially, the case study is structured to do the following:

  •  Sound interpretation of key financial areas and their significance to
     healthy financial performance of an organization.
  •  Accurate identification of key financial areas of these financial
     statements to determine and evaluate the performance of the organization.
  •  Critical evaluation of these financial statements to spot their
     existing strengths and weaknesses for the purpose of providing
     inputs on how they can be improved.

As participants will be divided up into groups to work on similar financial data
and resources, it is expected to generate healthy cross-learning among the
participants as they will be exposed to a diverse range of interpretation
and analysis by the group.  The facilitator shall act as a Financial Coach to
moderate the session, but more importantly, trigger their mental energies
within them to think critically to gain the most out of this case study
and workshop as a whole.

The training method used is designed to assist participants to grasp the fundamentals and understanding of Financial in a short time.  The approach adopted induces maximum retention of what is learned.  There is ample discussion time structured into the workshop to enable participants to learn effectively through active participation.

COURSE FACILITATOR - MR. THYE FOOT LEONG

Mr. Thye Foot Leong, is a member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountant. He qualified as a professional member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) in 1979.  After graduation, he worked in a professional audit firm for three years.  He has been engaged as a Senior Group Financial Controller and Deputy Chief Finance Officer in a Public Listed Company with KLSE for the last twenty years.  His scopes of responsibilities include Budgeting, Management Accounting, and Financial Management and Reporting, Corporate Finance, Corporate Planning, Strategic Management Business Processes and Control. He is also very well versed in the local business environment as the result of his broad background and exposure in Finance Management and Treasury.

He is also a member of the Havard Business School Alumni Club of Malaysia, and Malaysia Institute of Management. As a Certified Financial Planner, he is also a member of the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia and had been a past committee member of its PJ Chapter. He is also a Fellow Member of the Certified Public Accountants of Australia.

Mr. Thye is a past member and serves in several Committees/ Directorships of Rotary Club of Metro Kuala Lumpur.  He was the past president of ITC Toastmasters Club, Past Area Governor, Past Assistant Division Governor (Marketing), Past Assistant Division Governor (Education & Training), and Past Division Governor of the Pan-Southeast Asia Toastmasters District 51.
